Erich Nikowitz
Erich Nikowitz (born February 20, 1906 in Vienna ; † August 26, 1976 there ) was an Austrian actor who appeared in theater, film and television.
Life
Nikowitz was already playing under Max Reinhardt at the Theater in der Josefstadt in the early 1930s , to whose ensemble he belonged for decades. His first known film role was that of the Justice of the Peace in Anton the Last in 1939 with Hans Moser in the lead role. Nikowitz achieved international fame with the portrayal of Archduke Franz Karl - Emperor Franz Joseph's father - in the three Sissi films.
Erich Nikowitz achieved the greatest national popularity as "Papa Leitner" in the Leitner family , the first rated hit on young Austrian television ( ORF ). This series ran from 1958 to 1967.
Erich Nikowitz was married to the actress Elisabeth Markus since 1965 . His final resting place is at the Vienna Central Cemetery (group 18 / row 3 / no. 41).
