Aunt Wanda from Uganda is a German comedy film directed by Géza von Cziffra from 1957 .

action

As an unsuccessful inventor, Karl von Zeller lives separately from his wife Rosa with his daughter Lilli. Lilli loves the little salesman Jonas Edelmuth, but Karl strictly rejects him because he has planned a better match for Lilli. One day Karl receives a telegram from his sister Wanda, who has married a very wealthy man in Uganda , announcing that she is coming. Karl is desperate because he has played a completely different family for Wanda for years: he wrote her that with Rosa he not only had Lilli, but also another daughter and the twins Max and Moritz. They would live together in a villa because Karl was the director of a prosperous factory. Wanda has been transferring money for the children regularly for years, which has recently saved Karl from final bankruptcy. Good advice is expensive, especially since Karl has no money. Since Wanda is supposed to bequeath her three million dollars to the family in the long term, Karl unceremoniously teams up with the restaurant owner Rosa. With Rosa's money you rent a sumptuous villa and staff. Karl accepts that Jonas is posing as his son Max. Rosa, who actually wanted to divorce Karl, imitates the happy wife.

The Wanda family picks up at the airport. She has brought all of her servants with her and everyone is making a home in the rented villa. The missing family members are quickly explained. The second daughter ran off with a whaler, while Moritz, the black sheep of the family, became a criminal and now works as a catcher . He was rejected by the family. Wanda is satisfied with the explanations and generously distributes the gifts she has brought with her. Jonas receives a clock that plays a special melody at the push of a button. The first night in the villa is uncomfortable, as Wanda's servants have settled in all of the bedrooms and those of Zellers have to spend the night on the couch or even on the terrace. The next morning Wanda made the decision to reconcile the family with Moritz. Of necessity, Jonas has to step in, who now marks the strong man in Rosa's restaurant with initiated guests. He behaves disrespectfully towards Wanda, dances wildly with her and in the end accidentally activates the melody of the clock that Wanda gave him. Wanda pretends she hasn't heard anything.

She hires a private detective, who soon shows her the true circumstances of the family. Wanda wants to get back at von Zellers. She insists on seeing Moritz in a fight. A catcher can be found through Rosa's relationships who trains Jonas and wants to lose in a fictitious fight against him after a short time. Shortly before the fight, however, the catcher is arrested, so that a real catcher steps in in his place, who does not know anything about the deal. Jonas manages to drag out the fight, but Wanda begins to offer extra prize money for the winner. Although Karl secretly counteracts this and drives the price up, so that Jonas and his opponent take turns taking the lead, Wanda ultimately increases the price to heights that Karl can no longer pay. It only stops when Karl admits the vertigo. The fight, however, ends in chaos and a mass brawl.

The von Zellers have retired to Karl's apartment. They are sure that they made a mistake with Wanda, but now at least Rosa is planning to return to the family. She also ensures that Jonas is allowed to marry Lilli. Aunt Wanda appears and tells the family that she can only be reconciled if Jonas is allowed to marry Lilli, since he was the only one who only lied out of love and not out of financial interests. She also liked the rental villa so much that she bought it. So it comes to a happy ending for everyone.
