How do I become a movie star? is a German feature film directed by Theo Lingen in 1955 .

action

Marianne, the mannequin, Brigitte, the little choir singer and Elli, the trombonist of the dance band “Stramme Acht”, are three friends who dream of being discovered for the film. But they are still starving their way through drama school. One day there is an advertisement in the newspaper for the company WIMASTA (We make stars) who is looking for young talents and who also makes test shots. What nobody suspects, there is no film in the camera, because the company is a hoax. Only the admission fee and a deposit have to be deposited to bring in as much money as possible for the crooks. Newspaper driver Fritz Neumann with his brother as well as the police officer Hampel and a pretty ship stewardess are among the talents who introduce themselves. Of course, everyone is promised a contract, Marianne is even promised a role with Dieter Borsche.

Of course, she immediately tells her friend Günther Scholz, who works as an assistant director in a film production, of this news. Since Günther, as an industry expert, knows all about the market, he sees through the fraud and lets the fraudsters out without further ado. Photos of the witnesses from the court hearing are published in the newspapers, which in turn the director Altmann of the "Castel-Film" sees. Then he got the idea to include some of them in the final of his new film and had test shots made. The newspaper driver Fritz is taken without his brother, but he himself is a natural. Elli realizes that it's not enough to be a great tragedian, but a good comedian. When Marianne sees the screen tests, she realizes that her acting is not worth much. But now she wants to go through life together with her friend Günter Scholz.
