Zofia Owińska

Zofia Owińska (* in Wroclaw ) is a Polish pianist and music journalist.

Owińska was born into a family of doctors. She attended the Music Academy in Wroclaw and then studied piano with Bolesław Woytowicz at the Katowice State Music Academy . Since 1973 she worked in the music department of the Polish Radio in Wroclaw. She later became editor-in-chief of the music department, and from 1991 to 1992 she was deputy editor-in-chief of the station. From 1992 to 2002 she was the presenter and director of the Wroclaw Municipal Radio.

During her time at the radio, Owińska founded several series of programs, including a series on historical organs in Upper Silesia with Julian Gembalski , a series of symphony concerts and a series on love poems. In the station's studio she organized numerous concerts with the Leopoldinum Chamber Orchestra under Karol Teutsch and with well-known soloists. She also reported on musical events such as the Wratislavia Cantans festival for Warsaw radio station .

As a commentator and reviewer she wrote for the music magazines Polish Music , Ruch Muzyczny , Twoja Muza and Medium , among others . Talks with the composer Witold Lutosławski resulted in the book Lutosławski o sobie , which was published in Gdansk in 2011.
