Ilja Glusgal (born July 24, 1921 in Berlin ; † April 17, 1983 in San Francisco ) was an initially German jazz and entertainment musician ( drums , then singing ) who emigrated to the USA.
Live and act
Glusgal played drums with Bully Buhlan and Lubbo D'Orio in 1942 ; In 1946 he was part of the RBT orchestra . There Michael Jary discovered his qualities as a singer. He worked with Walter Dobschinski until 1948 , and then began his own career as a singer, sometimes with his own band. Until 1950 he recorded for Amiga , then for Philips. He had successes with Angelina , Chi Baba and Bongo, Bongo . Between 1952 and 1956 he appeared in music films such as Dancing Stars , Flower of Hawaii and Hotel Allotria . In 1956 he also played in Michael Jary's musical Herz am Spieß . He can also be heard on records with Kurt Henkels , the AMIGA Star Band, Johannes Fehring , Kurt Abraham , Heinz Kretzschmar , Adolf Steimel and the Heinz Becker Barquintett ( Jeepers Creepers ). Presumably at the end of the 1950s he emigrated to the USA; In 1964 he participated in the ZDF Olympic Ball .
