Freddy, Animals, Sensations is a German full color film by the director Karl Vibach from 1964, which is set in a circus environment , with Freddy Quinn in the title role. With the title, the producers are probably referring to the 1938 film People, Animals, Sensations by and with Harry Piel . Most of the shooting was done during a guest performance by the Italian national circus "Heros" in Hamburg. In the Federal Republic of Germany, the film was released for the first time on December 18, 1964.

In America, Freddy Baldoni is the big star of the trapeze troupe "Los Airos" and hurries with them from success to success. The artist's cradle was once in Europe, where his father has been running the long-established "Circus Baldoni" for decades. However, the company has seen much better days. A hurricane recently destroyed the big top, and Father Baldoni, who was never a good businessman, was cheated out of a large sum by his half-brother, Raoul, an airman.

Freddy doesn't know about his parents' worries. One day he received a telegram from his mother telling him that his father had been seriously injured by Raoul when he forcibly stole his secret plan for a sensational trapeze act, the so-called "death trapeze" . Freddy immediately goes to his home. He found out that Raoul is now under contract with the "Circus Heros". That's why he lets him work as a zoo keeper. He also represents the clown Peppino, who is ill and has a large family to look after.

Raoul assists the lion tamer Isodora. When he is attacked by an elephant at an inopportune moment, Freddy saves his life. Nevertheless, Freddy continues to pursue his plan to steal Raoul's description of the "death trapeze".

In the meantime, Gina, the former foster daughter of Freddy's parents, appears in the circus. From her he learns the whole truth about her financial situation. After he was able to take the stolen plan from his uncle, Freddy practices the new number with Gina. In the process, the two get closer and finally fall in love.

The day of the premiere is getting closer. Raoul has not got over his defeat and wants revenge on Freddy. Therefore, he is now planning an assassination attempt on his nephew. However, this can be prevented at the last minute.

The "death trapeze" hits like a bomb. With this train number the "Circus Baldoni" is heading for better times again.

The original soundtrack was released on a long-playing record by Polydor (No. 46919). During the discussion about this, the Protestant film observer remarked in his "Turntable" section: The music by Lotar Olias is remarkable. Freddy sings as one is used to; only in passages of "circus air" does he show more of his skills than he is otherwise allowed.

The shooting took place from September 14th to October 30th 1964 in Hamburg, Berlin and in the Italian national circus Heros. The film structures were designed by Hans-Jürgen Kiebach .
