“Hurray, a boy” is a swank in three acts by Franz Arnold and Ernst Bach .
World premiere and other versions
The premiere took place on December 22nd, 1926 in the Berlin Lustspielhaus . The dialect versions “Hurra, een Jung” (Low German) by Ingrid Waldau-Andersen and “Juchhe, a Bua” (Bavarian) by Franz Geisenhofer exist. The play takes place in all files in the lawyer's house within a day.

The names of the people change partly due to the direction. In the film adaptation of 1953 they are named as:

action
Prof. Weber is a young married lawyer whose strict father-in-law has the desire to become a grandfather, because in his position as strictly moral minister it is essential to fulfill family values and duties. So far, his daughter and son-in-law have not complied with this request. When the in-laws are due to visit, the professor is confronted with his past. His adopted son is just around the corner and wants to meet his father's new family. Gottfried (Fritz) is not only twice as old as his father, but also a comedian by profession . Prof. Weber would like to hide this family secret. All kinds of lies have to be invented and transformations undergone until the entanglements are resolved and everyone becomes a familiar family again.

- There is a recording from the Wiener Kammerspiele from 1979 on DVD. Maxi Böhm and Heinz Marecek play the main roles in this production , directed by Peter Loos . In addition, Christine Böhm , Franz Muxeneder , Gretl Elb , Christian Futterknecht , Marianne Chappuis and Ingold Platzer play.
