action

During his student days, the pediatrician Waldemar Weber married his landlady out of gratitude in order to legitimize her illegitimate son Egon Kummer. He is now married to Henny, née Nathusius, and has always kept his adopted son secret from his wife. On his first wedding anniversary of all times, his old college friend, the current lawyer Dr. Wehling, reveals that he had arranged the estate of the deceased and now wants to introduce her son to his stepfather. You have to go to Hamburg for this. Weber is desperate and wants to cover everything up because he has so far kept all this from his wife. As an excuse, the two agree to meet a supposed college colleague Eric Helgers - a name that the lawyer happens to read on the spine of a book.

At the same time, Helga Lüders also arrived to visit her long-time friend Henny Weber. Helga Lüders is a writer, but publishes under the male pseudonym Eric Helgers . When the two gentlemen now declare that they want to meet Eric Helgers , the women suspect marriage fraud. They are supported by Henny's mother, because their parents, the Nathusius couple, have meanwhile also come to visit. The father-in-law in particular, who financially supported Weber, hopes that Waldemar and Henny will finally have offspring and that the grandchildren they have longed for will be within reach.

When Egon finally arrives at the door, it not only turns out that he is a monkey trainer, he has also brought his chimpanzees Kiki, Koko and Kaka with him. Waldemar has his hands full hiding him from the other visitors; so it is temporarily hidden in a closet. The meeting with Eric Helgers can of course be canceled; that should calm Henny down too.

In the course of the jealousy argument, however, it became clear that Eric Helgers is a woman, but Waldemar and his friend Dr. Wehling concealed the fact that it was Helga who was present. In order to dispel the groundless suspicions out of the way, a meeting with the writer is proposed: She should be met in the ballroom on the occasion of the Bock beer festival; only the woman is still missing. Egon knows what to do: he disguises himself and plays herself.

In order to ultimately explain Egon's existence, however, there are still some turbulences to be overcome and unpleasant situations to be overcome before it turns out in the end that Theodor Nathusius (Waldemar's father-in-law) is Egon's biological father.

The film was based on Schwank Hurra, a boy from Arnold and Bach .

Film music

Friedel Hensch and the Cyprys sing the hit song Egon , which was already successful in 1952 :

"Eeeeegon, I only drank one glass too much out of love for you, yes only out of sheer love for you, [Chorus] oh Egon, Egon, Egon, Egon [/ Chorus] Eeeeegon, I'm only out of love for you , yes only out of sheer love for you, sunk so deep, etc. "

criticism

“A hastily thrown down confusion and disguise variation after Arnold and Bach. In the lead roles, alongside tried and tested German comedians, three trained chimpanzees. "
