Rolf Weih (born February 8, 1906 in Barmen ; † August 15, 1969 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German actor .

Life

The son of a medical councilor completed a commercial apprenticeship after graduating from high school. He then worked in various industries, including as an engineer at Siemens & Halske in Berlin.

During this time, Weih also tried his hand at being an amateur magician in variety shows and as a cabaret artist . In doing so he reached Hamburg and Paris. In 1927 he got an engagement at the Rose Theater in Berlin for three years . In 1930 he got his first small film roles.

Only now Weih took acting lessons and appeared as an operetta buffo on various provincial stages. In 1936 the UFA from Görlitz brought him in front of the camera for the film Men Before Marriage . Weih was now primarily a film actor who was used primarily as a lover with a comedic note, for example in Der Gouverneur (1939) as a partner of Hannelore Schroth . In Lauter Liebe (1940) he also gave a vocal part.

Later, Weih was a busy supporting actor, who also appeared in numerous homeland films in the 1950s . For health reasons, he had to limit his professional activity from 1961.

Rolf Weih was married to the dancer Ira Kraut and had two children. Weih died after a heart attack and was buried in the Berlin cemetery in Wilmersdorf .
