Peter Becker (judge)

Peter Becker (* 1955 in Herborn ) is a German lawyer and presiding judge at the Federal Social Court .

Life

Peter Becker studied law , political science and sociology in Giessen and worked for ten years within the Hessian social justice system before he was appointed to the Federal Social Court.

From February 2003 to the end of 2010 he was assigned to the 2nd Senate, which is responsible for matters relating to statutory accident insurance , and since August 2008 has been Deputy Chairman of the Senate. This was followed by the position of deputy chairman of the 14th Senate responsible for basic security for job seekers . On August 16, 2016, Becker took over the chairmanship of the 14th Senate.

Becker has been an honorary professor in the human sciences department at the University of Kassel since 2012 .

He is co-editor of the journal Die Sozialgerichtsbarkeit .
