Arlette conquers Paris is a German fiction film romance from 1953 by Viktor Tourjansky with Johanna Matz , Karlheinz Böhm and Paul Dahlke in the leading roles. The story is based on the novel The Girl with the Harmonica by Frank F. Braun .
action
Lively and happy, but also a little naive, Arlette, a country girl and illegitimate daughter of the French Minister of Justice, travels to Paris armed only with an accordion . In the bohemian circles that appear to be free and independent, she hopes to quickly make a career with her musical instrument. Since the unknown father knows of her arrival, Monsieur le Ministre sends an escort completely incognito, the smart Gérard Laurent, who is supposed to "collect" Arlette on her arrival and henceforth accompany her as a kind of bodyguard and chaperone. But the bodyguard misses the innocent innocence of the country, which instead comes across two nice young men on Montparnasse .
The two, the painter Luc Lamballe and the student Marc Tissier, have taken a liking to Arlette, and all three are now trying their hand at street singers in order to earn one or two francs. Since this is seen as an administrative offense, the three young people end up at the nearest police station. Gérard is also sent there. As soon as he met Arlette, he fell in love with the fresh, open-minded girl who was so very different from the Parisian demoiselles. After a few more entanglements and the final resignation of the Minister of Justice, who can finally embrace Arlette as a father, of whose existence the young woman did not yet know, it comes to a happy ending between her and the stiff ministerial official Gérard.

Reviews
In the mirror it was said: “The long overdue German film invasion of the" City of Lights on the Seine "took place in two directions: on the KdF level with the accordion play by Hannerl Matz, the Hohner Orchestra and Peter Kreuder's songs, which were in vain for flair and charm; on the Duvivier level by means of a verbose, over-pointed feature section comment. According to the will of the author and director, the Parisian should be preserved through the painterly disorder of the interiors, remarks such as "o la, la" and the constant address "Monsieur le ministre". For the fact that Hannerl Matz represents the original Danube type, she pulls herself out of the Seine affair quite well. "
The lexicon of international films judges: "Friendly, completely unrealistic comedy that helped a number of young German actors get started."
