action

Carlos, Federico and Cosme return to Naples with Nuria from a business trip to the northern provinces of Italy . After renting a room at Mrs Bellini's, they have important secret conversations because they stole jewels worth about twenty million lire when they broke into Florence . They discuss where to hide the prey most inconspicuously, and come up with the crazy idea of hiding the jewels in one of Mrs. Bellini's many flower pots in which the geraniums are in bloom. A third of their looted treasure belongs to their gang leader Suarez, whom they call Duke, anyway.

Since Cosme, who is always a little sick, has caught a bad cold, the doctor who has been summoned prescribes a nurse in addition to medication. So Sister Maria, a religious sister, comes into the house. The men are not thrilled to have a nun near them. Accordingly, Mary is received with a negative attitude. The thieving men cannot get rid of the feeling that Maria is not as clueless as she always does. Sometimes she has clairvoyant abilities. What the crooks find particularly worrying, however, is that Maria loves flowers and quickly notices that one of the geranium pots is getting too little water. So it happens that gang leader Suarez, who usually stays in the background, intervenes personally. During a conversation with Maria, he buys a revolver from her at an exorbitant price, which she accidentally discovered between the seat and the armrest. In this way he wants to prevent Maria from suspecting his people. The situation worsens when Ms. Bellini introduces a police superintendent from Florence as the new tenant, and reaches its climax when Maria protests because the sick Cosme is resisting her treatment. Maria takes with her the flower pot in which the jewels are, as Mrs Bellini had given her the choice of the flowering geraniums. And since the plant is ailing in this pot, the nun wants to nurse it back to health.

A meeting between Maria and Suarez brings nothing to the head of the crooks. Now you put Nuria, the lover of one of the gangsters, on the nun. She should see to it that Maria comes back to Cosme's bedside, and if possible with a flower pot. However, Maria has now seen through the men and flees. However, Suarez finds her and tries to talk her into conscience. But then things happen in quick succession and everyone involved arrives at the monastery, where the nuns - following a hint from Mary - examine all the flower pots. Mrs Bellini, on the other hand, informed the Commissioner who lives with her. There is no more escape for the gang of crooks, the men are arrested.
