The great Bomberg is a German comedy film by director Rolf Thiele . It is a film adaptation of the novel of the same name by Josef Winckler , which goes back to the life story of Gisbert von Romberg . The color film produced by Gero Wecker was premiered on August 21, 1957 in the Schauburg in Münster .

action

After his departure from the army, Bomberg, one of the richest men in the Münsterland , is supposed to keep a marriage promise made years ago. Bomberg, who is legendary for his jokes and pranks, doesn't think about it and sabotages the engagement party with fleas. Annoyed, the mournful bride family leaves the castle and seeks revenge. Now Bomberg's relatives also take action and plan to have him incapacitated in order to gain access to his property. The young doctor Dr. Roland smuggled in pretending to be an anthropologist . The new neighbor Kommerzienrat Mühlberg tries to couple his daughter with Bomberg. Meanwhile, Bomberg cleverly arranges a wedding for her and his faked death. By chance, Bomberg and Dr. Roland that they are father and son, which comes from Bomberg's past childhood love. Finally, Dr. Roland, now recognized by Bomberg as his rightful son and heir, and Mühlberg's daughter are a couple.

The shooting took place from May to June 1957. The outdoor shots were taken at Vinsebeck Castle , in Schwalenberg , in Lemgo (on the market square), in Steinheim (Neue Straße), and in Göttingen . One can see the Göttingen Kleinbahn . The studio recordings were made in the Arca film studio in Berlin-Pichelsberg . For the Filmbauten were Gabriel Pellon and Peter Roehrig responsible. Herbert Ploberger designed the costumes .
