Grzegorz Karnas (* 1972 in Wodzisław Śląski ) is a Polish jazz singer .

Life

Karnas grew up in the Polish Upper Silesia ; in Rybnik High School he had a year of classical guitar lessons. He graduated from the Jazz Institute of the Katowice Music Academy . Since then he has been working in the Polish jazz scene, a. a. with Tomasz Szukalski ; In 1998 he was awarded the first prize at the International Jazz Vocalists' Meeting in Zamość . The following year his debut album Reinkarnasja appeared on Not Two Records ; this was followed by appearances in clubs and festivals in Poland and Slovakia . In 2004 Karnas released his album Sny-Dreams of a Ninth Floor and also performed in Germany. Ballads for the End of the World (Ballady na Koniec Świata) followed in 2006 with the cellist Adam Oleś. In the same year he was honored with the first prize at the Young Jazz Singers Competition in Brussels. He has released other albums under his own name, but can also be heard on productions by Yvonne Sanchez ( My Graden ), the Jazz City Choir , Jihye Lee, Maria Guraievska and Edilson Sanchez.
