Miklós Lukács

Miklós Lukács (born January 9, 1977 in Törökszentmiklós ) is a Hungarian player of the cimbalom , who has emerged in both classical and jazz .

Live and act

Lukács received music lessons from early childhood, later at the Béla Bartók Conservatory and the Franz Liszt Music Academy . In classical music, he interpreted the Hungarian rhapsodies by Franz Liszt , but also works that Péter Eötvös composed for the cimbalom, with numerous internationally renowned orchestras, including the Orchester de la Suisse Romande , the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the RAI National Symphony Orchestra and the Warsaw musicians Philharmonic or the Philharmonic State Orchestra Hamburg .

As a jazz musician, he played in Mihály Dresch's quartet , the East Side Jazz Company , the Elemér Balázs Group and other Hungarian combos before founding his own quintet in 2006. He has also performed with Charles Lloyd ( Wild Man Dance ), Archie Shepp , Chris Potter , Steve Coleman , Herbie Mann , Uri Caine and Chico Freeman . He is also a member of Michael Schiefel's Platypus Trio , with whom he also presented an album in 2014. With Viktor Tóth and the bass player György Orbán he formed the Tóth Viktor Arura Trió .

He has given concerts at the Yehudi Menuhin Festival and the Warsaw Autumn as well as at the London Jazz Festival , the Moers Festival and the jazz festivals in Ljubljana and Cork.

Lukács has also emerged as a composer and has written chamber music works as well as theater music. Since 2001 he has taught Talentum at the dance and music school; since 2011 he has been working at the Snétberger Music Talent Center .
