Michał Miśkiewicz (* 23. May 1977 in Warsaw ) is a Polish drummer of modern jazz .

Live and act

Miśkiewicz comes from a musical family: his father is the saxophonist Henryk Miśkiewicz ; the singer Dorota Miśkiewicz is his sister. He has been playing the drums since he was 13 years old. On an impulse from Tomasz Stańko , he founded the Simple Acoustic Trio with Marcin Wasilewski and Sławomir Kurkiewicz in 1993 , which soon recorded a number of albums. With Radek Nowicki, Kasia Pietrzko and Michał Jaros he founded his Tony Williams Tribute in 2017 . It also worked with Tomasz Stańko, with whom it toured worldwide. It was also on the road with Jacob Young / Trygve Seim (among others at Elbjazz 2014) and with Joakim Milder .

Miśkiewicz also worked with his father and with Grzegorz Karnas . Johannes Enders brought him to the JazzBaltica Ensemble in 2008 ; he also toured with Piotr Wyleżoł . From 1994 until 2016 he was involved in 32 recordings, among others with Tomasz Szukalski , Janusz Muniak , Michał Urbaniak , Mateusz Smoczyński and the Jazz Baltica Ensemble with Hank Jones .
