Piotr Wyleżoł (born December 6, 1976 in Kraków ) is a Polish musician (piano, composition), who is best known in the field of modern jazz .

Live and act

Wyleżoł began his career as a musical child prodigy and was already performing at the age of ten in classical piano concerts with the Rybnik Philharmonic Orchestra . After graduating from high school in 1995, he studied jazz with Wojciech Niedziela at the Katowice Music Academy until 2000 . While still a student he played in the bands of Janusz Muniak , Jarek Śmietana and Marek Bałata .

Since his beginnings as a jazz musician, he has led his own trio, with which he released his debut album in 2001 and received very good reviews in the Jazz Forum . A second album followed in 2006 and another album in 2009, which was nominated for the Polish Fryderyk . A quintet album was created with guest musicians Adam Pierończyk and David Doruzka. A duet that he played with fellow piano colleague Sławek Jaskułke at the Jazz Festival in Gdynia was also released under the title DuoDram .

Wyleżoł also performed with musicians such as Gary Bartz , Billy Hart , Monty Waters , Bennie Maupin , Janis Siegel , Ed Schuller , Antymos Apostolis , Andrzej Cudzich, Urszula Dudziak , Kazimierz Jonkisz , Tomasz Szukalski , Tomasz Stańko and Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski . He has been working with Nigel Kennedy since 2005, both in his jazz projects and to interpret classical works. He also belonged to the trio of the singer Grzegorz Karnas .

Since 2007 he has been teaching in the jazz course at the Kraków Music Academy.

Prizes and awards

Wyleżoł won the following competitions held as part of festivals: Jazz Juniors in Krakow (1st prize), Jazz Standards Festival in Siedlce (1st prize), the Key to a Career of the Pomeranian Jazz Autumn, the prize for the best instrumentalist in jazz nad Odra , as well as the International Jazz Improvisation Competition in Katowice.
