Jacob Young (* 1970 in Lillehammer ) is a Norwegian jazz guitarist and composer.

Life

Young began playing guitar at the age of twelve and studied music at the University of Oslo . He received a scholarship to the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in Manhattan, where he studied guitar with Jim Hall and John Abercrombie and jazz composition with Richie Beirach , Bob Belden and Kenny Werner .

From 1993 to 1995 he worked in New York a. a. with Rashied Ali , Marc Copland , Arnie Lawrence , Junior Mance and Larry Goldings . After his return to Oslo his debut album This Is You was released , followed by two more ( Pieces of Time , 1997 and Glow , 2001).

Since 2001, Young has formed a duo with Karin Krog , with whom he released the album Where Flamingos Fly in 2002 . Since 2002 he directed the Jacob Young Group for a decade , with which he recorded two albums ( Evening Falls , 2002 and Sideways , 2007).
