Jan Andrzej Paweł Kaczmarek (born April 29, 1953 in Konin ) is a Polish composer .

Life

Jan AP Kaczmarek has been writing film music in Poland since the early 1980s . He originally studied law in Poznan and later worked with Jerzy Grotowski's “Laboratorium” theater . He then founded the Achter Tag chamber orchestra . The first album was released in Chicago in 1982 . Kaczmarek has lived in Los Angeles since 1989 . Since the early 1990s he has also composed for international film productions. In 2005 he received the Oscar for his score for When Dreams Learn to Fly . In 2011, on his initiative and under his direction, the international film and music festival Transatlantyk was held for the first time in Poznan .
