BBC Allied Expeditionary Forces program was a British radio station in the mid 1940s . The broadcasting center was in the BBC Broadcasting House in London .

history

The so-called Allied Expeditionary Forces program was operated by the British Broadcasting Corporation on behalf of the Allied Forces and began broadcasting on June 7, 1944, the day after the landing in Normandy , on the long-wave transmission frequency 583 kHz. The troop support station broadcast an entertainment and information program and was known for its swing music and cabaret shows. Another essential part of the program were the greetings that were described as the “bridge between the front and home”. On July 28, 1945, shortly after VE Day , the BBC Allied Expeditionary Forces program was discontinued and continued by the British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS).
