Joe Quitzke

Joe Quitzke (* 1969 in Linköping ) is a Swedish jazz musician ( drums , composition ).

Live and act

Quitzke, who grew up in Andalusia, was an autodidact and played drums and percussion in Latin bands as well as in the genres of jazz, rock music and funk . Then he lived and played in Australia and Sweden.

He has lived in Paris since 1996, where he studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris between 1996 and 2000 . Since then he has been a member of the Gábor Gadó Quartet and has been involved in numerous albums of the group. He also belonged to the band of François Jeanneau . Quitzke can also be heard on recordings by Matthieu Donarien , Gábor Winand , Éric Barret , Claudia Solal , Miklós Lukács , Emil Spányi and Ablaye Cissoko. He teaches drums at the jazz department of the Paris Regional Conservatory.

Prizes and awards

In 1999 he won first prize in the La Défense competition with the Matthieu Donarian Trio . He completed his studies with a first prize.
