Christophe Monniot
Christophe Monniot (born June 15, 1970 in Caen ) is a French jazz musician ( alto , baritone , sopranino and soprano saxophone , composition).
Live and act
Monniot first learned the trumpet before switching to the saxophone . He received his education first at the conservatory in his hometown, later in Paris, but also studied musicology at the University of Rouen .
From 1992 he first played with Laurent Dehors and then from 1995 to work with Rémi Sciuto and Denis Charolles in the Campagnie des musiques à ouïr . With this group he released four albums between 1999 and 2005. Monniot was a member of the Orchester National de Jazz between 2000 and 2002 under the direction of Paolo Damiani .
Monniot led various groups of his own. Together with Emil Spányi , he founded the duo Ozone in 2006 ; his first album was awarded by the Académie Charles Cros. He also worked as a composer and published his duos pour 2 saxophones . In 2007 he arranged Vivaldi's Four Seasons for his octet. He also worked as an arranger for the Cool Runnings Orchestra . He can also be heard on albums by Sébastien Boisseau , Andy Emler , Marc Ducret , Stéphan Oliva , Patrice Caratini , Fred Pallem , Daniel Humair and Roberto Negro . He also worked with Michel Portal , Bernard Lubat , François Raulin and Matthieu Donarian .
Prizes and awards
Monniot received the Paris Conservatory's first prize for jazz and improvisational music. He also won the soloist competition at the La Défense Jazz Festival .
