Sébastien Boisseau (* 1974 in Lille ), a French bassist of the Creative Jazz .

Live and act

Boisseau had a classical double bass training at the conservatory in Dreux ; at the age of twelve he played his first concerts and soon became involved with jazz. In 1991 he first studied at the Conservatoire National in Tours , before completing a musicological degree at the University of Tours . He also attended workshops with JF Jenny-Clark , Riccardo Del Fra , Kenny Wheeler , Lee Konitz and Marc Johnson . From 1996 he taught at the Jazz à Tours music school . In 2001 he was awarded the DE de jazz teacher training diploma . Boisseau, who has been active in the French jazz scene since the 1990s, has since played with musicians such as François Jeanneau , Stéphan Oliva , Martial Solal , Franco Ambrosetti , Louis Sclavis and Michel Portal . In 2000 he founded the music collective Yolk in Nantes with Alban Darche and Sebastien Boisseau , which received the Victoire du Jazz as “Label of the Year” in 2019 ; the three musicians also appear as the Yolk Trio ( Clover , 2020).

Gábor Gadó brought him into his French quartet with Matthieu Donarian and Joe Quitzke . He accompanied Daniel Humair on the albums Apres l'orage (2003) and Baby Boom II (2008). Hans Lüdemann , with whom he occasionally plays in a duo (in 2012 at the Vive le jazz festival in Rhineland), chose him for his trio Rooms . Since 2004 he has been part of the quartet of Eric Watson and Christof Lauer . In 2010 he performed in a duo with Laia Genc in the Cologne Loft ; he is also involved in her album Polyfangastronosia (2009).
