Christophe Marguet (born May 14, 1965 in Paris ) is a French jazz drummer.

Live and act

Marguet started drumming as a child. At the age of 15 he received lessons from Jacques Bonnardel in Drôme . He later continued his studies in Paris with Michel Sardaby and Keith Copeland . He also attended workshops and master classes by Kenny Barron , Rufus Reid , Victor Lewis , David Liebman , Richie Beirach , Ron McClure , Billy Hart and John Abercrombie .

Since the mid-1980s, he has worked as a sideman with established French jazz musicians such as Barney Wilen , René Urtreger , Stéphane Grappelli , Didier Levallet , François Jeanneau , Alain Jean-Marie , François Corneloup , Joëlle Léandre , Marc Ducret but also with American guests such as Robin Kenyatta , Vincent Herring , Bud Shank , Buddy DeFranco , Ted Nash , Ted Curson , Don Sickler or Glenn Ferris and with Enrico Rava and Paolo Fresu . His collaboration with the vibraphonist David Patrois and the bassist Christophe Wallemme was particularly appreciated. In 1993 he founded the Christoph Maguet Trio with Sébastien Texier and Olivier Sens , with which he won the 1995 La Défense jazz competition . For the first album Résistance Poétique , the trio was awarded the Django d'Or in 1997 .

He is currently working with his own quartet, Résistance Poétique , which includes Sébastien Texier, Bruno Angelini and Mauro Gargano. In 2016 he founded the quartet Old and New Songs with Yoann Loustalot , François Chensel and Frédéric Chiffoleau , which toured Russia in 2019. He is also a regular partner of Eric Watson , Henri Texier , Joachim Kühn , Jean-Marc Foltz , Claude Tchamitchian and Yves Rousseau . He also works in the groups of Daniel Beaussier, Nicolas Genest, Emmanuel Sourdeix and in the Orchester National de Jazz (under the direction of Paolo Damiani ).
