Sébastien Texier (born February 14, 1970 ) is a French jazz saxophonist (alto) and clarinetist.

Live and act

Texier is the son of jazz bassist Henri Texier . He began to learn the clarinet at the age of ten and the alto saxophone at the age of fifteen. He studied clarinet with Jacques Di Donato and attended courses with Joe Lovano , Patrice Quentin, Reggie Workman and Lee Konitz . In 1994 he recorded the music for the film Les 40 ans de la FNAC with Noël Akchoté , Louis Sclavis , Aldo Romano and Henri Texier . In 2002 he made his first recording for Mad Nomad by Henri Texier. In 2004 he recorded the album Chimères (Night Bird Music) with his quintet under his own name . In addition to his own groups, he regularly plays in the bands “Ocean” by Isabelle Olivier and in the “Strada” sextet by Henri Texier as well as in the “Out” project by Jean-Marc Padovani (“Out - Tribute to Eric Dolphy”). He worked alongside the above-mentioned u. a. with Paolo Fresu , René Urtreger , Gianluigi Trovesi , Didier Lockwood , Glenn Ferris , Paolo Damiani , Daniel Humair , Christophe Marguet & Olivier Sens ("Résistance Poétique" 1997, Label Bleu), Joe Lovano and Steve Swallow . He plays in a trio with the drummer Jacques Mahieux and the bass player Nicolas Mahieux.

Texier also composed music for short films ( Sale Nuit chez les Ours by Guillaume Parent) and was involved in the recording of the score for Agnès Varda's film Les Glaneurs et la Glaneuse and Bertrand Tavernier's Holy Lola . In 1999 he was involved in the film music for Remparts d'Argile (music by Henri Texier, director JLBertucelli).

In 1995 he won first prize both in the group and as a soloist at the Concours de La Défense . In 2004 he received the Django d'Or (France) in the “New Talent” category. In 2010 his album Don't Forget You Are an Animal (Cristal) was released.
