Olivier Sens.

Olivier Sens (* 1965 ) is a French double bassist of the Modern Jazz .

Life

Sens received piano lessons from the age of six; at the age of thirteen he switched to the guitar . At the age of 18 he decided to play the double bass and soon played with Palle Danielsson and Bernard Cazauran , in order to perfect his training with Henri Texier in 1992 . He also attended a workshop by Dave Holland .

He first played with the Orchester Jazz regional de Grenoble , Guillaume Orti ("Reverse"), Nelson Veras, Aldo Romano ("Because of Bechet"), and Stéphane Kochoyan. In 1995 he presented himself in a trio with Sébastien Texier and Christophe Marguet at the La Défense Jazz Festival competition ; he won first prize there; for the album "Résistance poétique" the group received the Django d'Or .

From 1995 to 2002 he accompanied musicians such as Stéphane Grappelli , Didier Lockwood , Jean-Marc Padovani ("Out - Tribute To Eric Dolphy"), Daniel Humair , Richard Galliano , Claude Barthélemy , Louis Sclavis , Martial Solal and Michel Portal . He also played with traveling musicians such as Philip Harper , Gary Bartz , Antonio Hart , Gary Thomas , Rich Perry and Chris Potter .

In 2002 he founded the La ZAM ensemble with Vincent Courtois and Benoît Delbecq . He also played in the bands of Malo Valois, Christophe Marguet ("Les Correspondances"), Nicolas Genest, Jean-Christophe Beney and Hervé Bourde . He has also given concerts in a duo with Denis Badault and Isabelle Olivier. In the Collectif Slang ("Addict") he also appeared as an electronics technician.

From 1998 to 2001 he was a professor of double bass at the Conservatory of Bagneux operates.
