Guillaume Orti (born December 8, 1969 ) is a French jazz saxophonist.

Live and act

Orti was a saxophone student of Francis Montesinos and Francis Grand from the age of twelve . From 1985 to 1989 he studied jazz with André Jaume and classical saxophone with Robert Malbec and Jacques Pierson at the Conservatoire National de Région of Avignon . He also took saxophone lessons from Yochk'o Seffer .

In 1989 he went to Paris, where he founded the group Kartet with the pianist Benoît Delbecq , the bassist Hubert Dupont and the drummer Benjamin Henocq (replaced by Chander Sardjoe in 1996 ) , which had released six albums by 2014. In 1990 he attended a jazz seminar at the Banff Center of Fine Arts under the direction of Steve Coleman , where he a. a. Jorrit Dijkstra and Steve Argüelles , with whom he later worked.

In 1993 he founded the Hask Collective , which existed until 2005. He also recorded with the Belgian group Aka Moon , the Dutch group TryTone and the Finnish Pepa Päivinen Quartet . He also worked with Bo Van Der Werf's band Octurn , the groups Reverse (with Olivier Sens and Gilles Olivesi ) and Oxymore (with Oene van Geel , Harmen Fraanje , Mark Haanstra and Chander Sardjoe), with Stéphane Payens Thôt Twin and Franck Vaillants Quartet Benzine together.

Altogether Orti worked on more than thirty albums. He also took part in various literary projects (including with Thierry Madiot , Arnaud Carbonnier , Jacques Zabor , Ghislain Mugneret , Christine Bertocchi , Éric Chalan and Claude Guerre ) and dance projects (including with Bérengère Altieri-Leca , Thierry Baë and Marion Baë-Mortureux , Christine Burgos , Catherine Contour , Olivier Gelpe , Emmanuel Grivet , Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker , Latifa Laabisi , Seijiro Murayama , Eckhard Spillmann and Françoise Tessier ) as composers and musicians.
