Bo Van Der Werf

Bo Van Der Werf (born January 15, 1969 ) is a Belgian modern jazz musician ( baritone saxophone , clarinet, composition) who has also emerged as a filmmaker .

Van Der Werf studied at the Amsterdam Conservatory . In 1992 he founded the Brussels Jazz Orchestra with Frank Vaganée , Serge Plume and Marc Godfroid . In addition, he leads the octet Octurn (which was later expanded to a large format) , in which Belgian and French improvisation musicians have gathered and presented several albums. He also led small groups and belonged to bands such as Sax No End , Lidlboj and the Timescape Project . As a studio musician , he worked with Aka Moon ( Invisible Sun , Elohim ).

Van Der Werf not only composes for his groups, but also for film ( J'aime regarder les filles 2011), ballet and for ensembles of new music . He also placed as a director in 2006 the documentary Satyajit Ray Negatives before that on the Tehran Film Festival, the film festival in Buenos Aires, the Mumbai International Film Festival du documentaire de Paris, Tiburon Film Festival California, Mediawave Budapest, Festival Kolkata International Film Festival were shown .
