Steve Argüelles Clarke (born November 16, 1963 in Crowborough , Sussex ) is a British jazz drummer .

Live and act

Argüelles, who grew up in Birmingham, first played in the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra . After leaving school, he moved to London, where he was a member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and worked as a musician for film and various theaters. In 1983 he was a founding member of Loose Tubes . Then he played with his own formations, with his brother Julian Argüelles in the group Argüelles and with Iain Ballamy and Django Bates in the group Human Chain . He has also performed with Chris McGregor , Dudu Pukwana and Robert Dick .

Argüelles has worked with the Swiss singer Corin Curschellas , with John Wolf Brennan and Christy Doran ; he also plays in the trio The Recyclers with Benoît Delbecq and Noël Akchoté . Argüelles was a guest with Gilad Atzmon's formation Tango Siempre when recording the album Tangents and was involved in Ig Henneman's recording of Indigo . Argüelles played drums on recordings by Dieter Ilg , the ADD Trio , the Creative Works Orchestra , the bands of Nguyên Lê and Robert Dick and the Thierry Peala Group .

Argüelles operated the AhUm label in the 1990s ; He currently runs the electronics music label Plush .
