Mick Hutton

Mick Hutton (born June 5, 1956 in Chester ) is a British jazz musician (double bass, electric bass, steel pan and cuatro ) and composer .

Hutton became known in the British jazz scene through his collaboration with musicians such as Harry Beckett ( Pictures of You , 1985) as well as Julian Argüelles , Iain Ballamy , Ken Stubbs / Django Bates ( First House ), the Chris Biscoe Sextet and Bill Bruford's band Earthworks . Mick Hutton has also worked with Alan Barnes , Peter Erskine , Tina May , Jim Mullen , John Scofield , Alan Skidmore , Tommy Smith , John Taylor , Stan Tracey and Kenny Wheeler throughout his career . In 2002 he worked on Robin Williamson's ECM album Skirting The River Road ; in the same year he played in a trio with Martin Speake and Paul Motian ( Change of Heart , ECM).

A hand injury forced him to give up playing the double bass; From then on he worked increasingly as an electric bass player, percussionist and synthesizer player as well as a composer; He currently plays with his own formation with saxophonist Andy Panayi , pianist Barry Green and drummer Paul Robinson.
