Olivier Benoît

Olivier Benoît (born May 6, 1969 in Valenciennes ) is a French jazz guitarist who has also emerged through his orchestral conducting.

Benoît first attended the Conservatory before studying with Fred Van Hove and Annick Nozati at Lille University . In 1996 he moved to Paris, where he performed with musicians such as Philippe Deschepper , Jacques Mahieux and Joëlle Léandre . In 2000 he formed a duo with Sophie Agnel , who also released the album Rip Stop (2003). From 2001 to 2001 he was a member of Paolo Damiani's edition of the Orchester National de Jazz ( Charméditerranéen , ECM ). In Lille, he conducted the large-format ensemble La Pieuvre and became part of the Circum collective (he was also one of the composers of the Circum Grand Orchestra ). In addition, he continued to work with Mahieux, Agnel, Christophe Marguet and Régis Huby and Maria Laura Baccarini.
