The Université Lille - Nord-de-France ("University of Lille-Northern France") is a university in the French city of Lille . It was founded in 1562 by Philip II of Spain as the Université de Douai in Douai . In 1896 the Université de Douai moved to Lille. It existed there until it was split up in 1968. In 2008, the University of Lille-Northern France was brought back to life as a university association consisting of several independent universities, not just in the city of Lille.
With more than a hundred thousand students, the University of Lille-Northern France, taken together, is one of the largest universities in France.
The University of Lille-Northern France offers six different doctoral programs.
