Jean Pierre Ribaut

Jean Pierre Ribaut (* 1935 , Switzerland ) is a Swiss ecologist and ornithologist (biologist), diplomat and Roman Catholic deacon. Until 1998, JP Ribaut was director of the nature conservation and environmental department of the Council of Europe , which since 1970 has been a pioneer of effective national and international environmental policy. As a deacon and advisor to the CCEE , delegate of the Holy See and as a member of Pax Christi France, he has been supporting the greening of European churches, especially the Roman Catholic Church, since 1989.

Life

Ornithology and Ecology at the University of Lausanne

Jean Pierre Ribaut has been involved in ornithology since his youth and was already the leading figure on the Cou and Bretolet bird migration passes together with Gérard de Crousaz and Michel Godel in the 1950s. Since his retirement in 1998 he has represented the Holy See in the meetings of the Council of Europe for the Bern Convention and the European Landscape Convention and works as a permanent deacon in the Archdiocese of Bordeaux in the parish of Pauillac .
