Futuropa is a magazine on environmental and nature conservation issues published by the Council of Europe . From 1967 to 2008 it was called Naturopa .

History and conception

The Council of Europe set up Naturopa in 1967 as an information and documentation center for nature conservation as one of its organs - with national agencies in the respective member states of the Council of Europe. Naturopa was published as a magazine of the same name for the concerns of nature and environmental protection and later sustainable development in Europe. 103 issues had appeared by 2005.

From 1968 to 2005 the journal focused on promoting nature conservation, sustainable management of natural resources and developing a multidisciplinary approach to environmental issues. Since 2001, the magazine has gradually taken up new topics such as landscape and cultural heritage and improving the quality of life . The magazine was published in four languages ​​until 2005 and in the two official languages ​​of the Council of Europe from 2008.

The magazine “Futuropa” aims to raise awareness among European citizens and decision-makers of the importance of sustainable territorial development on the European continent.
