Philippe Deschepper

Philippe Deschepper (born August 6, 1949 in Roubaix ) is a French jazz guitarist and composer .

Live and act

Philippe Deschepper began his career in traditional jazz in various ensembles. During his art studies in Lille he dealt with new improvisational music and modern jazz and participated in numerous formations in these directions. He was a co-founder of EAO ( Et Autres noms d'Oiseaux ) with the drummer Jacques Mahieux and the bassist Jean-Luc Ponthieux ; in Paris in 1981 he played with the quartet of Henri Texier ; he was a member of Gérard Marais ' Big Band de Guitares , worked with Michel Portal ,Louis Sclavis , Bernard Lubat , Claude Barthélemy . Finally in 1989 he founded the Impossible Trio with Michel Godard and the percussionist Youval Micenmacher , played with Sylvain Kassap , Yves Robert , Annick Nozati and Dominique Pifarély . In 1986 his first album was released under his own name Sad Novi sad with Texier, Godard and Steve Swallow . In 2000 the album (Un) written with Laurent Hoevanaers and Olivier Benoît was released . In 2009 Philippe Deschepper also played in a duo with the guitarist Laurent Luci .

The guitarist is not to be confused with the film producer Philippe de Schepper .
