Arca film production

The Arca-Filmproduktion GmbH was a German film production company based in Göttingen produced, which from 1953 to 1965, many German movies. The company's best-known works include the Immenhof films produced between 1955 and 1957 and the Liane film series with Marion Michael in the lead role.

Gero Wecker founded the company in 1953. The very first production, the homeland film Die Mädels vom Immenhof , became a popular success in 1955 and was followed by sequels in 1956 and '57. Controversial, however, was the documentary So Was Der deutsche Landser , a compilation of old newsreel material that was published in the same year and criticized by the voluntary self-regulation of the film industry for “militaristic, nationalistic and national socialist tendencies”. Another success in 1956 was Liane, the girl from the jungle , which also resulted in two sequels. In 1957 under the direction of made Veit Harlan staged, homosexuality thematizing film different from you and me (§ 175) for controversy, the only after a revision of the FSK was released for performance in Germany. The company then tried war and crime films such as U 47 - Kapitänleutnant Prien (1958) and a remake of Bombs on Monte Carlo (1960). After the failure of the crime film The Secret of the Three Junks , the production company had to file for bankruptcy in 1965.
