Rosemary's Daughter is a German erotic film with a contemporary satirical background from 1976. In addition to Lillian Müller in the title role, Horst Frank and Bela Erny also play other leading roles. It was directed by Rolf Thiele , who had made the prequel Das Mädchen Rosemarie 18 years earlier . The premiere of the film, which is released for children aged 18 and over, took place on November 18, 1976 in Frankfurt am Main .
action
Annemarie's mother, the well-known high-class prostitute Rosemarie Nitribitt, was found murdered nearly twenty years ago. The culprit has never been found. Annemary's father is also unknown. Under the name Annemarie Meier-Wippertal, she has so far lived unencumbered by her mother's past. A patron who remained anonymous had previously financed her life, including her stay in a Swiss boarding school. One day the monthly check fails.
Annemarie then goes to Germany to look for her mysterious patron. She also wants to try to find her mother's murderer on her own. And she wants revenge: on everyone in society whom she considers to be partly responsible for her mother's death. Every man seems suspicious to her, and she uses the charms of her well-proportioned body to achieve her goal. Without prostituting herself, she wants to get money quickly. Since she studied journalism, she also wants to work in this profession. Attempts by government agencies to recruit her as agents fail. Finally, the other side shows interest in her and tries to recruit her as a terrorist. But she has no talent in that either.
The business elite and political celebrities of the Bonn republic are startled, Annemarie's activities do not go unnoticed by the high-ranking gentlemen and obviously make some of the signed representatives of the executive elite sweat. Meanwhile, Annemarie has fallen in love with an agent, but is reluctant to have her feelings because she deeply distrusts love sui generis . Finally she lands, stark naked, as Loreley on the rock of the same name, enveloped in the 'fog of oblivion'.
Production notes
Rosemary's daughter was Rolf Thiele's last production. His film Frauenstation was only shown after Rosemary's daughter . As in The Girl Rosemarie , Horst Frank, Jo Herbst , Hanne Wieder and Tilo von Berlepsch also play in this film . The title role of Annemarie Nitribitt went to the blonde, Norwegian nude model Lillian Müller, who had already played the leading female role in Thiele 's women's ward the year before (1975) .
Maleen Pacha provided the equipment, Charlotte Flemming designed the costumes.
criticism
The film's large lexicon of people sums it up: "His last work as a director, Rosemary's daughter , the highly speculative continuation of his greatest hit with the Norwegian Playboy Nackedei Lillian Müller in the textile-poor title role, marked Thiele's absolute low point, both artistically and commercially."
The Handbuch 9, Films 1971–76, wrote about Rosemary's daughter : "The contemporary satirical aspect and cabaret style is mostly of a clumsy design with porn derailments, which means that the film loses all claims despite the elaborate design means."
