Jo Herbst (born August 11, 1928 in Berlin ; † September 18, 1980 West Berlin ) was a German actor and cabaret artist .

Since 1950 Jo Herbst has been a member of the Berlin cabaret Die Stachelschweine . He was a member of the ensemble until 1964, until 1961 he also worked on the lyrics. In addition, he wrote texts for other cabarets such as the Nürnberger Trichter , Dierichter and the Münchner Lach- und Schießgesellschaft . Together with Wolfgang Neuss he appeared on radio broadcasts. In 1960 he also took part in Neuss' film Wir Kellerkinder .

In addition to his career as a cabaret artist, he has appeared in numerous films and television programs. He wrote the chansons for the film Das Mädchen Rosemarie by Rolf Thiele . From March 10, 1955, he was married to Annette Grau.

In September 1980, Jo Herbst died of a serious illness in Berlin at the age of 52. His grave is in the state-owned cemetery Heerstraße in Berlin-Westend (grave location: 7-G-13/14).

His brother is the actor Wilfried Herbst .
