The last will be the first is a German crime film from 1957 based on the novel The First and the Last (original title: The First and the Last) by John Galsworthy .
action
Lorenz Darrandt was a prisoner of war for many years . The experiences made there have deeply disturbed him and he is struggling to gain a foothold in post-war Germany. He draws hope when he falls in love with pretty Wanda. However, Wanda is a prostitute and is under the influence of her pimp . Lorenz kills the pimp. Ludwig Darrandt, Lorenz's older brother and a successful lawyer , succeeds in blaming an innocent beggar for the murder . He is convicted and has to go to prison . Lorenz now has nothing more to fear. The remorse drives him and Wanda to suicide .
