Hanns Matula (born December 6, 1923 in Vienna ; † July 8, 1987 there ) was an Austrian cameraman .

Matula began his career in film after the war as a manager and cutter . In 1950 he became a camera assistant at Hans Heinz Theyer , a position he held for about a decade.

In the documentary film Immortal Mozart he made his debut as one of several of the responsible cameramen, but only after Theyer's death in 1961 did he become the standard cameraman of the Austrian director Franz Antel . During the 1960s and 1970s, he was behind the camera on numerous comedies by Antel and other directors, including several sex films. The ambitious but unsuccessful biography of Antels about Johann Strauss , Johann Strauss - The King without a Crown , was also Matula's last film , which was created in the DEFA studios .
