Marlène Charell (born July 27, 1944 in Winsen (Luhe) ; actually Angela Miebs ) is a German dancer , singer and presenter . She became internationally known in the 1960s and 1970s through appearances in revues and shows as well as her own television programs.

Life

Angela Miebs grew up in Hamburg as the daughter of a native Silesian . As a six-year-old girl, she and her father performed in the circus with the acrobatics number Angela and Corinn . She later trained in acrobatics , ballet , dance, gymnastics , singing and acting .

Since there was less and less revue theater in Germany , she went to Paris with her parents , where after an audition with the then director Michel Gyarmathy in 1962 she got an engagement at the famous Cabaret Folies Bergère .

He chose her stage name Marlène based on Marlene Dietrich's legs; Angela Miebs' father thought director Erik Charell's last name would go well with it.

From 1966 she performed for over a year at the Dunes in Las Vegas in the Casino de Paris show . Variety magazine named her Miss Longlegs because of her legs . Back in Paris in 1968, after the May riots , she moved from the Folies Bergère as a solo artist (leading lady) to the leading cabaret Lido de Paris . There she met her future husband Roger Pappini, who was the technical director of the Lido at the time, but then gave up his own professional activity and became her manager. Marlène Charell and Roger Pappini married in December 1971; In 1973 their daughter Angelina was born, who is now married and has a daughter herself.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Marlène Charell was successful as a versatile entertainer worldwide. She presented her own Marlène Charell show at Casino Ruhl in Nice , appeared in England together with Engelbert Humperdinck in a multi-part co-production by BBC and ZDF and made guest appearances in Canada , Japan , Austria and Switzerland , among others .
