Daniela Sofia Korn Ruah (born December 2, 1983 in Boston , Massachusetts ) is a Portuguese - American actress . She is best known for her role as Kensi Blye in the American television series Navy CIS: LA .

Life

Ruah was born in Boston , Massachusetts in 1983 , the daughter of Dr. Moisés Carlos Bentes Ruah and his wife Katharina Lia Azancot Korn. She moved to Portugal with her family at the age of five, where she attended St. Julian's School. She comes from a family of Sephardic Jews. The famous "Portuguese Dreyfus" Artur Carlos de Barros Basto is one of her ancestors .

She got her first acting role at the age of 16 after a casting in the TV series Jardins Proibidos . At the age of 18 she moved to London where she studied at London Metropolitan University for 3 years . After graduating with a Bachelor with Honors degree , she moved to Portugal, where she played roles in television series, short films and in the theater . In 2007 she won the first season of "Dança Comigo", the Portuguese version of Dancing with the Stars . In the same year she moved to New York to study at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute .

Ruah, who speaks fluent Portuguese and Spanish in addition to English , has played the leading role of Kensi Blye in the US television series Navy CIS: LA since 2009 . Her right eye appears darker than her left due to a nevus ota .

In December 2013, Ruah and her fiancé David Paul Olsen, the brother of her series partner Eric Christian Olsen ( Marty Deeks ), became parents of a son. The two married in Portugal on June 19, 2014. In September 2016 they became parents to a daughter.

Together with Filomena Cautela , Sílvia Alberto and Catarina Furtado , she moderated the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon from May 8th to 12th, 2018 .

She currently lives in Los Angeles , California .
