Alsu Ralifowna Abramova ( Tatar Алсу Ралиф кызы Абрамова , Russian Алсу Ралифовна Абрамова * 27. June 1983 as alsu Ralifowna Safina in Bugulma , Tatar ASSR , RSFSR ), known as Alsou , is a Russian singer and actress Bashkir - Tatar descent. Her name means "rose water".

Life

Alsou is the daughter of Ralif Safin (board member of Lukoil ), a Bashkir, and the Tatar Rasija Safina, has two brothers and lived in London from the age of twelve , where she studied art and French.

At the wedding of her brother Marat, she was discovered as a singer by her later producer Valery Belozorwski. Her first single, Zimnii Son ("Winter Dream "), released in 1999, made her known in her home country. Worldwide she appeared in Mongolia in front of 86,000 fans, in Germany and at the World Music Awards . She became known to the European audience through the song Solo , which she presented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2000 and thus took second place for Russia. In 2001 she released the song Before You Love Me , which reached number 27 in the UK charts. In the same year her first English album was released, entitled Alsou .

Alsou received the World Music Award as “Best Selling Russian Act 2001” and the MTV Europe Music Awards as “Best Russian Act 2001”. Her album 19 , released in 2002, sold over half a million copies. In 2005 Alsou went on a tour with Westlife . She sang duets with internationally and nationally known singers such as Sergei Lasarew , Valeri Schotajewitsch Meladze , Arkadij Ukupnik, Dima Bilan , Filipp Kirkorow , Iossif Kobson , Lev Leschchenko , Enrique Iglesias , the rapper Nelly , Les Paul , Karl Frierson from the band DePhazz , Al Bano , Ricchi e Poveri and Patricia Kaas . She made her debut as an actress in the 2005 horror film Spirit Trap .

From 1999 Alsou was featured on the covers of Cosmopolitan , Glamor , FHM , Maxim , Elle , InStyle and Bravo magazines . In 2010 Alsou received the award “People's Artist of Tatarstan” (Narodnaja Artistka Respubliki Tatarstan) for spreading the Tatar language and culture.

She moderated the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow with Iwan Urgant . In 2013 she formed the Russian jury for the Eurovision Song Contest together with Dima Bilan, Filipp Bedrossowitsch Kirkorow and Julija Stanislawowna Sawitschewa . In the same year the video for the single Нет тебя дороже ("Nothing is as important as you") was released. The song was written and produced by Dmitrij Klimashenko and reached number 6 on the Golden Gramophone Chart on Russian radio. In October, Alsou's single Останься ("Stay") was presented, the video premiere was in November. In 2014 the video for the single Дочь отца (“Father's Daughter”) was released and the video premiere of the song Счастье ты мое (“You are my luck”) took place, which was part of the soundtrack of the film Дневник мамы первоклассника (“The day of one First grader ”) heard.

Since 2013 Alsou has been one of three presenters of the television show Субботний вечер ("Saturday evening"), which is broadcast on Russian television on Rossiya 1 .

Alsou has been married to Jan Abramow since March 18, 2006. The couple have two daughters and live in Moscow. In 2007 she became a member of the United Russia party .

In 2019, their daughter Mikkela won the Russian edition of The Voice Kids . Since the voting was questioned, the broadcaster ordered an independent review.
