Annely Peebo

Annely Peebo (born November 16, 1971 in Viljandi ) is an Estonian opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

Annely Peebo graduated from Tallinn Music High School ( Tallinna Muusikakeskkool ). There she studied piano and choral conducting. From 1990 to 1994 she was the singer of the renowned Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir ( Eesti Filharmoonia Kammerkoor ).

Peebo studied singing at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna with Gerhard Kahry and the opera singer Curt Malm. In 1997 she made her debut in Rigoletto at the Vienna State Opera and from that year was a permanent member of the Volksoper Vienna . Annely Peebo has been working as a freelancer since 2005.

Peebo has sung many prominent opera roles in her music career, including Hermia in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream , Mercedes in Bizet's Carmen , Dorabella in Mozart's Così fan tutte , Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni .

In 2002 Annely Peebo moderated the Eurovision Song Contest in Tallinn together with the Estonian singer and actor Marko Matvere .

The singer has close ties to Austria and was Austria's next top model in the jury at the 2008 finals of the nationwide model selection .
