Lucy Ayoub
Lucy Ayoub ( Arabic لوسي ايوب, Hebrew לוסי איוב; * June 1992 in Haifa , Israel ) is an Israeli presenter and slam poet.
Life
Ayoub was born in Haifa in June 1992. She is the daughter of an Arab-Christian father and an Ashkenazi mother who converted to Christianity after their marriage . Her paternal grandmother was the daughter of a Palestinian refugee who fled to Lebanon during the Israeli War of Independence in 1948 . Her maternal grandparents were Holocaust survivors. Her grandfather survived a concentration camp while her grandmother was from Romania.
Ayoub celebrates both Christian and Jewish holidays. However, she celebrates this with other family members. She is an atheist herself , even though she was baptized as a child. She is fluent in Hebrew and Arabic .
Ayoub trained as a soldier in the Israel Defense Forces . She was also an aircraft simulation instructor for the Israeli Air Force for two years .
She has lived in Tel Aviv with her friend Etay Bar since 2017 .
Career
She first became known to the public in 2016 when she read some of her texts at an Israeli poetry slam . In the same year she became an employee at the broadcaster IPBC . Since 2017 she has hosted a weekly cultural radio program on IPBC radio. In the same year she became the moderator of the Club Culture program at Kan 11 .
Ayoub was points spokeswoman for Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 . Then Miri Regev , who is responsible for the Israeli Ministry of Culture and Sports, started a protest against Ayoub after she said a few words in Arabic during the live broadcast and did not mention Jerusalem.
On January 26, 2019, it was announced that Ayoub will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv together with Bar Refaeli , Erez Tal and Assi Azar . She also moderated the semi-final draw of the Song Contest on January 28, 2019 with Assi Azar.
