Renārs Kaupers (born September 1, 1974 in Jelgava , Latvian SSR , Soviet Union ) is the singer of the Latvian pop and rock band Brainstorm , which took third place at the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm with the song My Star . At the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 in Riga , he co-hosted with Marie N on stage. He was allowed to take over the moderation of the show for the 50th anniversary of the competition in autumn 2005 at the side of Katrina Leskanich . In the same year he was awarded the Order of the White Star of the Republic of Estonia . In 2007 he recorded a cover version of the Russian synth pop song Na sare (На заре, Eng. "At dawn") with Russian director Yevgeny Grischkowez .

Kaupers studied journalism at the University of Latvia and graduated in 1996 with a diploma. His ancestors are allegedly Baron Friedrich von Stuart from Courland (1761-1843) and Immanuel Kant's niece Henrietta Kant. Kaupers is married to Agnese and the father of their twins Edgars and Emīls (* 1995), who founded the indie pop band Carnival Youth in 2011 as well as their son Ārons (* 2011).
