Petra Maria Mede (born March 7, 1970 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish comedian , television presenter and actress .

Life

Petra Mede grew up in Partille near Gothenburg ; her father is the head of an international corporation. As a young woman, she wanted to be a ballet dancer, took lessons and then moved to Paris . Here she was, among other things, background dancer for Celine Dion . She has suffered from chronic back pain since she was in her early twenties, which is why she quickly had to give up her ballet career in favor of a comedian career.

She is known in Sweden as a stand-up comedian . From 2008 to 2009 she was in the sitcom Hjälp! to experience as Viviann . With a humorous style she moderated the Melodifestivalen 2009. She was selected to moderate the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö and was the first solo presenter of this competition since 1995 .

At the end of March 2015, she hosted the anniversary show for the 60th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest in London with Graham Norton . In 2016 she moderated the first semifinals of the Melodifestival 2016 together with Gina Dirawi. After Sweden won the Song Contest again in 2015, Mede was selected again, this time together with Måns Zelmerlöw , as the presenter of the ESC 2016 .

Little is known about Mede's personal life. In 2012, at the age of 42, she became the mother of a daughter for the first time. The child's father is the 13 years younger doctor Mattias Günther.
