Assi Azar ( Hebrew
אסי עזר ; Born June 10, 1979 in Cholon , Israel ) is an Israeli presenter .
Life
Azar is descended from Bukharan Jews and Teimanim Jews .
In 2005 it was announced that Azar was gay , four years later, in 2009, he was named one of the top 100 most influential gays by the US magazine Out . In the same year, his documentary Mom, Dad, I have something to tell you (German: Mama, Papa: I have to tell you something) premiered on Israeli television about his homosexuality. In 2016 he married his Spanish friend Albert Escolà in Barcelona .
Career
His career started with the online television show KIK . In 2004 and 2005 he was the host of the youth program Exit . Together with Erez Tal , he hosted the Israeli version of Big Brother from 2008 to 2015 . Since 2013 he has also moderated the casting show HaKokhav HaBa .
On January 26, 2019, it was announced that he will be hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv together with Bar Refaeli , Erez Tal and Lucy Ayoub . He also moderated the semi-final draw of the Song Contest on January 28, 2019 together with Lucy Ayoub.
