Anastasia and Maria Andreyevna Tolmatschowa ( Russian Анастасия и Мария Андреевна Толмачёва ), known as Tolmachevy Sisters ( Russian Сёстры Толмачёвы Sjostry Tolmatschowy , English Tolmachevy Sisters * 14. January 1997 in Kursk ) are singers from Russia.

Career

In 2006, at the age of nine, they performed at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006 (JESC) and achieved first place with the song Wessenni Dschas (spring jazz ).

The song of the two was chosen from 200 other songs among the top 20 of the national selection. In the national final show on June 4, 2006, Anastassija and Marija prevailed against the remaining 20 and were allowed to represent Russia at the JESC on December 2. The two got by far the most points - with 154 points 25 more than the second-placed Belarus - and thus won.

The twins released their first album in 2007 called Polowinki, which contains eleven songs.

On May 13th, 2009, they were the opening act for the first semifinals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 .

On March 8, 2014 it was announced that they would represent Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen with the pop song Shine . After Nevena Božović , who represented Serbia at the ESC 2013 in the Moje 3 group , they are the second performers to take part in both the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and the adult competition. They were able to qualify for the final alongside nine other countries, where they took seventh place. In the semifinals and in the final they received boos during the awarding of points, which was seen as a reaction to the policy of the Russian government in the Crimean crisis .

On October 14, 2017, the twins appeared as interpreters on the opening day of the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students , which took place in Sochi that year.
