Filipp Bedrossowitsch Kirkorow ( Bulgarian Филип Бедросов Киркоров Filip Bedrossow Kirkorow ; Russian Филипп Бедросович Киркоров ; born April 30, 1967 in Varna , Bulgaria ) is a Russian singer, composer and music producer.

biography

Kirkorov was born in Bulgaria . His father is the Armenian-born Bulgarian singer Bedros Kirkorow . From 1984 he attended the Gnessin Institute in Moscow and completed his training in 1988 with distinction. Musically Kirkorov based on models of Russian and Western pop music and was in the 1990s and 2000s as a performer and composer for a number of countries of the former Soviet Union at the Euro Vision Song Contest participated. In addition to his work as a solo artist, he regularly publishes duets with well-known Russian artists .

At the beginning of 1994 he got engaged to Alla Pugacheva , on March 15 the couple was married in a civil ceremony in St. Petersburg by the then mayor Anatoly Sobchak . A religious ceremony followed in Jerusalem on May 15 of the same year. The marriage lasted almost 10 years and was divorced in March 2005. Kirkorow represented Russia in 1995 at the Eurovision Song Contest in Dublin with the song "Kolybelnaja dlja Wulkana" ('Lullaby for a Volcano') and reached 17th place. He was co-author of the Belarusian contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 , “Work Your Magic”, and in 2008 he wrote the Ukrainian contribution “Shady Lady” for Ani Lorak . In Bulgaria he was also a member of the jury for the second season of the pop idol version there. Kirkorow made a cameo in Verka Serduchka's music video “Do Re Mi” .

Many of his successes in the countries of the former Soviet Union are, in addition to his own compositions, especially Russian-language cover versions of earlier ESC contributions, including "Dreaming" (Ireland 1995) , "(I Would) Die for You" (Greece 2001) , "Diva" (Israel 1998) , “La Voix” (Sweden 2009) in a duet with Anna Netrebko or “Playing with fire” (Romania 2010) . In terms of style, Kirkorow now covers a broad spectrum - from classical Estraden and contemporary Russian pop music productions to international crooning , folk , blues , Spanish rhythms, musicals and echoes of electronic music .

In 2017 he was awarded the Order of Honor . He is the father of two children.

Scandals

Kirkorow regularly receives media attention through scandalous appearances. In May 2004, for example, he cursed a journalist in vulgar language when she asked him why he was covering so many foreign titles. Instead of an answer, Kirkorov angrily replied that he was "no longer in the mood for the blouse, tits and microphone" of his interlocutor and had them thrown out of the room by his bodyguards. Kirkorov was then sentenced by a court to a fine of 60,000 rubles for assault .

During a concert for Viktor Yanukovych in the 2004 Ukrainian presidential election campaign, his father erroneously called for support for the opposing candidate Viktor Yushchenko , amid loud protests from Yanukovych supporters .

It is also reported that Kirkorov had the singer of the band DDT , Yuri Shevchuk , beaten by his bodyguards after he had previously made derogatory comments about Kirkorov, his music and his family.

In 2009, Kirkorow had to resign as president of the national jury for the Eurovision Song Contest after he had previously publicly expressed his sympathy for the Greek performer Sakis Rouvas and was seen by journalists at a private dinner with the eventual winner Alexander Rybak .

In 2010, Kirkorov was seen physically attacking a woman from the audience during a concert.
